The strength of any community-based organization is determined by the connection and contribution of the people who comprise it. It is the ever-expanding circle of supportive family members, friends, neighbors and corporate sponsors and fans that will make us "special" and our goals attainable. StarCross is always looking for great volunteers - if you'd be interested in joining our Volunteer Corps you can look forward to the following:No Pay Short to Long Hours Hard Work Fun Times Great Experience We're looking for talented professionals in the arts (music, performing, creative, visual arts) that can work with children ages seven to twenty-one. If you're interested, please read the information below and then fill out the application. Our Application Process - Please fill out our application after reading all of the material on this page, to make sure that joining the volunteer corps with StarCross is right for you. - After you fill out the application, our volunteer coordinator will contact you to arrange for an interview. Because the safety and security of our kids is our top priority, we thoroughly interview all candidates for positions, do background checks on all individuals and check references. This sometimes slows us down in "hiring" capable and talented volunteers - but we thank you for your patience. Time Commitments Have an extra hour to teach a workshop? Have twenty hours a week? We will work with you to find a position and work load that will be both manageable and engaging -- and we'll do so working around Your schedule. We love our volunteers and plan on offering leadership programs and workshops for all volunteers throughout the year in order to develop their skills and interests further for the enrichment of all. Internships and Community Volunteer Hours Are you a student (or a recent student) looking to build your resume or complete hours towards your graduation requirements? Please fill out the application and mark "Intern/Community Hours." Our internship program will require students (or recent students, can't forget those) to dedicate at least fifteen hours a week to the program. Interns will work on specialized projects, overall office administration and the basic day to day operations of the organization. High School students looking to complete their community volunteer hours will work with the volunteer coordinator to schedule their commitments and get their paperwork signed as needed. Our school internship/community programs run on the school schedules, so please apply early for the upcoming semester or marking period. |
